Every restoration starts with a high-resolution scan of the original print, so the repair work happens on a digital copy and the physical photo itself is never altered further. From there, tears and creases get patched, scratches and dust are cleaned up, and faded areas are brought back toward their original contrast. For black and white photos, color can be added back in by hand, the way it is in the example below.
Photo restoration, done by hand in the shop.
Torn corners, deep creases, water stains and decades of fading all get repaired the same way: carefully, one photo at a time, with the original scanned first so nothing is lost if something goes wrong along the way.
Every photo is different, and some damage goes deeper than others. The example above shows color restoration in progress on a badly degraded original. Bring in what you have, torn, faded, water-damaged or just old, and we will take a real look at it before anything is promised.
